Helping Non-Speaking Children Communicate
At Evergreen, we provide support for children who are nonspeaking and minimally speaking. Delivered by a Speech Pathologist with unique global clinical experience and training.
What we provide
Many children who are non-speaking or minimally speaking need support to develop reliable and meaningful ways to communicate.
At Evergreen Speech Pathology, we use a range of evidence-informed strategies to support early communication development. Sessions are tailored to each child, with a focus on building strong foundations in a way that feels engaging and achievable.
Drawing on clinical experience in early communication and international paediatric therapy settings, we support the development of key foundational skills that underly communication. These are the building blocks for more effective communication over time.
Support includes the use of established programs and techniques, along with play-based and responsive interaction strategies. Families are supported throughout so communication can be encouraged not just in sessions, but in everyday life.
By focusing on these foundational skills, therapy aims to create the right conditions for children to develop functional, meaningful communication at their own pace.
Overview of the process
Support begins with a consultation session. During this time, your child’s communication strengths and needs are explored, and areas of difficulty are identified.
From there, an individualised plan is developed, tailored to your child and focused on building the foundations for communication in a way that is engaging and achievable.
Further information
Parent involvement is a key part of therapy. Families are supported to understand their child’s communication needs and the focus of each session, helping to carry strategies over into everyday routines and interactions.
Each child’s plan is individualised, and progress will look different for every child.
