“Children learn to communicate by interacting with carers, early childhood educators, and their peers. A child’s communication development is everyone’s responsibility. Speech Pathologists can support children (and those who care for them) to build communication, and make sure children are developing appropriately.” – Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)

The initial appointment is a chance to meet your child’s speech pathologist and share important background information. This discussion helps us understand your child’s communication history and ensures that any assessments we complete are carefully chosen to suit their needs.
During the session, the therapist will also complete an informal assessment through play and conversation to get a sense of your child’s current communication skills. We’ll talk about next steps, any additional assessments that may be helpful, and set clear goals to create a personalised therapy plan.
